Code of Conduct
Sondance Studio is a faith-based dance studio that seeks to represent the love of Christ in everything we do. Sondance asks all students, families, and staff to adhere to a standard code of conduct, based on Biblical principles, while participating within or representing Sondance Studio.
Sondance Etiquette & Good Stewardship Guidelines
Dance is a disciplined art form and requires commitment. Consistency and class attendance are required. Attendance and consistency are important to a dancer’s progress, knowledge of class material, and performance readiness.
We ask that you read, understand, and accept these policies before enrolling at Sondance Studio.
Please arrive on time for class - warm ups are crucial to prevent injury.
Come prepared - we have outlined below what to wear and bring to class.
Parents and or guardians are not allowed to enter the studio unless permitted by the teacher.
Students are responsible for keeping the dance studio clean by keeping track of their own items.
No cell phones in class (students may leave them in their dance bag).
Only water is allowed in the dance studio. Please label your dancer’s water bottle (potentially more than one depending on the length of classes)
Families with young children in the studio’s visiting area are required to be attentive to their children. Parents / Guardians will be expected to keep a watchful eye regarding safety and appropriate indoor behavior.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, parents and siblings are not allowed in the lobby or studio at this time, with the exception of the red/fuchsia class and any first year dancers.
Class Behavior/ Attendance
Dancers will conduct themselves appropriately in class by respecting their teacher and their peers. If a dancer’s behavior/attitude is disruptive, a teacher may give them a warning, ask them to sit and observe class, or ask them to leave class entirely, at the teacher’s discretion. Teachers will minimize the amount of time a dancer is not able to participate in class where possible, but will prioritize maintaining a safe, healthy environment in the dance studio. If you have concerns about your dancer’s behavior in class, please contact the teacher to talk through options and your dancer’s unique needs.
Please email the teacher if your dancer will be absent for any reason.
If a student is ill and unable to attend school during the day, we ask to please keep your dancer home to encourage a full recovery.
If a dancer is recovering from an injury, the teachers ask that they come to class and observe.
Excused absences: Illness / Family Emergency / Any required, graded school function. Extended absence situations should be discussed with the teacher ahead of time.
If a student has 3 or more unexcused absences in a semester, they may have their role reduced in choreography, at the teacher’s discretion.
dress Code
We encourage our students to take pride in their appearance, and to dress in a way that facilitates their progress in dance.
When entering and exiting the building, we encourage our dancers to promote modesty and wear a coverup garment over their tights and leotards.
In class, teachers need to be able to see the line of the body, so baggy clothes are not appropriate dance attire. Dancers may wear extra layers for warm up only.
No dance shoes are to be worn outside. This includes tap shoes and hip-hop sneakers.
Always bring extra hair supplies.
